Chapter 9

Lucky was fascinated by the goings on all about the place, people rushing here and there.

Mark kept hold of her, making sure she didn’t fall over. He’d a feeling if she got hurt while with him, he’d get hurt later!

They entered the back of the stadium and walked through the maze of tunnels towards the dressing rooms. The nearer they got the more Lucky seemed to drop back, as much as she wanted to meet David, she didn’t want her fantasy of him to be crushed, and she was certain no man was as perfect as the way she’d wrote about him.

They walked passed a set of ladies loos, ‘Hey loos just flew passed!’ She really hoped she didn’t have to hurt Mark; he’d been so nice up to now.

‘Nah those aren’t as good as the ones in the back rooms.’ Keeping hold of her and pulling her deeper into the bowls of the stadium.

Lucky just prayed she hadn’t made a mistake, and followed him. He stopped suddenly at a door that had a hand written sign on it stating ‘wardrobe’.

Knocking on the door he opened it hollering ‘It’s only me, your lover boy!’ at the top of his lungs. He pulled Lucky in behind him who started to laugh.

‘Which one?’ Came zinging back at him.

‘Aw damn Amy you said I was the only one!’ He clutched his heart and fell to his knees, Lucky laughed louder

‘Oh hell you could have said you’d brought company youngster!’ The one called Amy said she must be in her late forties and blonde.

‘What, he brought one of his girls back here?’ Said a dark haired woman, who looked up from her sewing, and over the rim of her glasses.

‘Jesus you make me sound like a horn dog! This is Lucky, she needs to use the toilet and I’ve brought her here to my two favourite girls.’ He smiled at them as he got up, and they rolled their eyes at him. ‘Lucky, the beautiful blonde is Amy, and the fiery cracker is Cindy, they keep the guys in their clothes.’ He laughed as Amy flipped him the bird.

Cindy looked Lucky up and down, ‘You are boy! Well you’ve never gone to this length before, so y’all must be special.’

She laughed louder, ‘Does special mean stupid enough to fall for Marks charms?’ She laughed again.

‘Oh shit she’s got your number baby!’ Amy chortled, liking the tall woman in front of them.

‘I don’t need this shit! Mac’s shouting for me; let her use the facilities and I’ll be back in a minute to get ya darlin.’ He blew a kiss at Lucky and headed out of the room with laughter following him, he took of at a run down the corridor.

Lucky felt a little abandoned, but made the most of it, she walked forward with her hand out to Cindy, ‘Hi I’m Lucky, nice to meet ya, so you’re the one’s to blame!’

Cindy took it, looking up, ‘Cindy, and blame for what honey?’

Lucky turned towards Amy and held her hand out, ‘To blame for David’s crap dress sense and the guys clothes staying on!’

‘No way, he chooses his own fuckin clothes!!’ Cindy spluttered.

‘Shit you mean he really doesn’t have any taste in clothing? Well hell!’ She snickered, the other two joining in.

‘Honey, it’s got so damn bad Jon’s taken to helping him this tour.’ Amy laughed.

‘Ah I wondered why he suddenly looked ‘normal’ these days.’ All the women laughed again. ‘Please can I use the loo, I’m trying not to leave a puddle here, but laughing so much, well it’s getting hard not too.’

Amy got up and opened the door for her, ‘Hell don’t do that! And I thought we were supposed to keep them in their clothes?’

‘Well yeah, but a wardrobe malfunction now and then would be wonderful you know.’ Lucky closed the door on barks of laughter, she liked these women.

After reliving herself she headed back into the other room and sat talking to the women, laughing at some of the things that had happened to the guys clothes over the years, from ripped shirts because of over eager fans. To the splitting of Jon’s tight trousers, these women had been with them for years, so they knew loads of stuff.

They even let her loose in the racks of clothing they’d got set up, but they told her the clothes for tonight’s show were already in their dressing rooms. Lucky ood and ahhed over clothes she’d seen on stage and some from photo shoots.

She started to wonder if Mark had forgotten her, and if she should start to make her own way back, she’d give him five minutes then look for someone to get her back outside.

A couple of minutes later the door crashed open making all three of them jump, ‘I hear someone wants my body!’ David stood in the door, shirt undone, leaning against the door jam, an arm over his eyes playing the martyr.

Amy and Cindy looked at one another, and as one both said, ‘We don’t!’

Lucky couldn’t help herself, ‘Well if you don’t want him, I could find a use for him!’
